Yesterday I was invited by a friend, Jason Dickenson, to go to a luncheon at a church called Antioch Community Church in Waco, TX. This luncheon was for business men who have a calling to impact the marketplace. These business men and women see their jobs as a mission field and they're the missionary...but you really don't hear the importance about the marketplace as being a mission field. We always here to bring your friend a work to church and what not, but why not bring the church to work? I know you have to be careful about what you say to who - before becoming full-time in missions I worked in a public school so I know all about "watching your tongue." BUT you can still live out Jesus to your fellow workers - AND if you have your own business, let God run your business! During the luncheon, not only does the business men and women fellowship with each other, but they have the chance to sharpen each other - iron sharpening iron. Every luncheon, another business man or woman would have the chance to be the featured speaker. The speaker the at the luncheon we went to was very very educated in the Bible. VERY! I can't remember his name, but from what I heard about how he approached his job at the marketplace and the opportunities to shine for Christ, he was a great example of marketplace ministry! To see these guys, made me think deeper into the mission field of the marketplace. I truly believe that this generation and the upcoming generation, God will be calling people not to just be full-time pastors and missionaries...but full-time business men and women in the marketplace. If the marketplace was ever ran on Bible principles, I couldn't start to imagine what we could do for Christ! Businesses could help fund ministries, ministers and even start other Bible principle business. Churches have Church Plants - how not have Business Plants!?! And not to just further the kingdom of the marketplace, but to further the Kingdom of God! To see all the money being spend on God purposes would be world changing and world impacting! You may be wondering why I have the video on this blog...it has nothing to do with the marketplace. Correct! The speaker played this video at the end of his presentation and it grabbed me and grabbed me HARD! This video click is called "A Call to Anguish" by David Wilkerson. This video made me think so hard about life and the way I'm guiding my family. As the man of the house, we are the captain of the ship and when the ship goes down, unless you have life-rafts, everyone goes down with the ship. I would rather not take a chance for me and my family to have to put faith in a life-raft if I goof up and sink the ship. Because not only do you have to put faith in the lift-raft, but the coast guard or another ship to find you! Prayer and fasting and listening....A call to anguish.
